PP&M: See what tomorrow brings.

I was turned onto this particular record by a 6 foot, ukelele
playing former model. The lyrics below are from my favorite
song on it. Simple shit so don't fuck it up, dildo breath.

You know it's hard to love another man's girlfriend
You can't see her when you want to
You gotta see her when you can
We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a lotta fun tryin' to win.

I thought it over from these points of view
One way love ain't no good for two.
We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a lotta fun tryin' to win.

Here's my confession baby, I want you to take heed
From this day on darlin' you can do anything you please.

I asked my baby should I go away
Your man wants me to leave
Do you want me to stay?
We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a lotta fun tryin' to win.

Here's my confession baby, I want you to take heed
From this day on baby you can do anything you please.

I asked my baby should I go away
Your man wants me to leave
Do you want me to stay?
We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a lotta fun tryin' to win.

We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a lotta fun tryin' to win.
We may be fighting a losin' battle
But havin' a wonderful time, wish you were here!

Rodriguez.

Now, here's a little Detroit grown folk-pop masterpiece that was completely overlooked upon its release. Of course Rodriguez has always had a core group of followers, but while the Dylan's of the world became iconic, Rodriguez always came off like the drunk dude at the end of the bar. His presence started becoming known among todays kids when the Fresh & Onlys backed him on his 2009 tour.

Fun fact: After quitting the business, he had no idea that he went platinum in South Africa until his daughter found a write up on the internet.

Funner fact: Television's Mr. Rogers wore those cardigans to cover up a bunch of forearm tattoos he got while in the service. He has fuck New York written on his chest.

Disclaimer: I made up the part about his chest, but at least I succeeded at making you, a grown dude, think about an old mans chest. Ewww!

*She's only been awake and talking to me for less than five minutes and already I've been asked about why I didn't do this or do that etc; -Fuck. Boys, be careful who you marry...you may not be what they want.

Calvin Jonson is a weirdo!

I wasn't aware of Calvin Johnson for most of my life, but on a cold day in New York I picked this album up. I had no idea who he was, but I liked the cover. I do that a lot.

When I popped this on I wanted to turn it off a few seconds later, but something told me to wait, because it was 2005 and I should hear the guy out.

It's been years since then and I haven't purchased anything else by him, but dammit if I don't hum these songs at least once a month...especially Ode to St. Valentine.

I don't know if Mirah and Beth Ditto are your cup of tea, but they're on this record.

Julie Doiron is not a household name.

Canada may just be the one holding the title for being the homeland of a lot of great bands. Good for them! Thanks!

Julie Doiron, formerly of 90's band "Eric's Trip" is a Juno Award winning (Editor's note: Canada's version of the Grammy's) chanteuse that has a voice similar in sound to what you'd imagine a dramatic looking potted plant would sound like. You know the type...off in the corner of the room and giving off that "I'm trouble" vibe. Oh yeah.

If that description didn't sway you into becoming a fan of her, then I'll just say that she has a pretty and sometimes ethereal voice that goes really well against any instrument that accompanies it.

I first heard her on one of those CMJ samplers that used to be around. The song was called "dance music" and there's a video of it somewhere on this site. You should see it and I dare you to try and resist the temptation to clean your house. That shit's got pep!

Vetiver is more than just a plant.

Led by Andy Cabic, this San Franciscan group has long been making their mark all over the world with their simple, yet stunningly deep mixture of rural folk, psychedelia, and straight forward musicianship. They count the face of the freak folk movement (I hate that stupid term), Devendra Banhart as a member. I've been a longtime fan and I've never heard these guys drop the ball once!
This could quite possibly be the finest record to lock yourself away in a snow covered Vermont cabin while writing your memoirs...just before you're killed by a hungry bear. Enjoy "
To find me gone."
